I am not naive. I know this to be true. Having it verified and confirmed, enrages me and sickens me. It leads me to despair. It makes me uneasy and scared about the future of this great country. Is there any hope? I keep reminding myself of the serenity prayer,
God grant me the serenity To accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world As it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right If I surrender to His Will; So that I may be reasonably happy in this life And supremely happy with Him Forever and ever in the next. Amen.
And the answer I keep coming back to everytime the fear creeps back is to pray ... pray without ceasing. I am encouraging everyone to do the same. The Election Day novena being promoted by Priests for Life is a great start. We need to stay faithful and resist giving into the fear and renew our hope in the Lord.
And lastly, we all need to vote!
