While all of us were at home contemplating and preparing for what was to be one of the worst snowstorms the East Coast has experienced in many years, Catie was leaving for the West Virginia Special Olympics Winter Games at Canaan Valley, WVA. Despite forgetting her ski goggles and having to make do with sunglasses (see the picture and notice her Navy hat too in the first picture!), she had a wonderful time. And she made us all proud winning three gold medals in cross country skiing! The happy ending is that she arrived home safely Friday by noon, just before the snow started to seriously accumulate. As always, I am indebted to her two coaches, Nancy Julia and Jeff McGiboney who give so much of themselves to these special athletes. Now it's time to prepare for her next big adventure - the Latin American Special Olympic Games in Puerto Rico! Catie never slows down!
