One of my favorite pieces of mail I get each month is the newsletter from the Daughters of Mary Mother of Our Savior. This community of sisters was founded in 1984 with three Novices and seven Postulants. Today there are fifty-three members in the community. The first and most important work of the Congregation is to return gratitude to the Sacred Heart and make Him more known and loved. The work of these sisters is so important and refreshing!
The newsletters for January and February 2009 contain the "Steps to Easter" based upon A Practice for Each Day of Lent, by Sr. Mary Theresita, SSJ. Mother Mary Bosco explains that, "These steps have been prepared to provide a thought and a practice for each day of Lent. Thus, each step consists of two parts: (1) a thought to ponder during the day, selected from the Liturgy of the day's Mass; and (2) a resolution or practice to accompany this thought." I have found them extremely helpful during my Lenten journey. They are short resolutions, easy to remember, and very fruitful. I hope to post the remaining "steps" as we journey towards the end of Lent.
March 22 - Fourth Sunday of Lent
Thought: “Gather up the fragments that remain, lest they be lost.” (Gospel)
Practice: I will be careful not to waste anything today, especially food and time.
