Every now and then you come across a family that models the Holy Family, a family dedicated to the ideals and mission of the Church, a family that makes a huge impression on you. Behind all these families are men of character and virtue. Thomas S. Vander Woude was one of these men. His family is one of these special families that lives in northwestern Virginia.
Mr. VanderWoude died today rescuing his 20 year old, Down syndrome son, from drowning. Please pray for him, his wife and family, and his son who is still recovering from the accident.

Thomas Vander Woude, who served as a pilot in Vietnam and later worked as an
airline pilot, had seven sons with his wife of 43 years, family members
Erin Vander Woude said her father-in-law, known as Pa Pa to his 24
grandchildren, touched many lives, volunteering as a coach at Seton School
in Manassas and through his work at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
She described his as a "life well lived."
The arrangements for Tom Vander Woude are as follows: The Visitation will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Sunday, September 14, 2-4 PM and 7-10 PM. The Funeral will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Monday, September 15, 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, a fund is being set up in memory of Tom Vander Woude for his wife, Mary Ellen, and son, Joseph, for future expenses. Details will be made available at the funeral and on the Holy Trinity website. If you still plan to send flowers please send them to Pierce Funeral Home. Joseph is making steady improvements and remains in the hospital. Please continue to pray for his recovery and for the entire family at this time.
