If you ever have the opportunity to visit Arlington National Cemetery, it's worth the trip. Seeing the gravesites of the more than 260,000 brave men and women, who have given their lives for their country, is very moving.
Section 60 is the final resting place for those who paid the ultimate price in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is an active area of the cemetery filled with fresh flowers, pictures of the fallen, and mementos, all left by their loved ones. One cannot help but become emotional reading the headstones - 19 year olds, female officers, fathers, and sons - all who have died to give my family and me the freedoms we enjoy.
Today I honor these men and women in prayer for them and their families that still survive. I also stand in salute to the men and women who are currently serving. I especially honor my son and all his midshipman friends who are in training to serve as future officers of our military. I am so proud of all of you! May God be with you and protect you!
